Lab · Spain · Board-level

The lab behind every data recovery

We work on the device's electronics: microsoldering, BGA chip-off, ISP/JTAG, NAND transplant and FTL reconstruction. The work that software-only services don't reach.

Cleanroom · ISO Class controlled

The cleanroom where your data lives again.

Particle-controlled environment for opening hard drives without contaminating platters. Stainless workbenches, antistatic flooring, dedicated airflow and full traceability per case.

Capabilities

Six techniques. Every recoverable case.

Each case calls for a different intervention. We pick the one that minimizes risk and maximizes the chance of recovery.

Microsoldering

Microsoldering at board level

Repair of damaged power and data lines, BGA reballing and component-level intervention to restore communication between CPU, RAM and storage.

Chip-off

BGA chip-off · NAND extraction

Controlled extraction of soldered NAND chips for direct read on a hardware programmer when the original board cannot be revived.

ISP · JTAG

ISP / JTAG direct read

Reading the internal flash via test pads when the controller no longer cooperates but the silicon is intact. No chip removal required.

Donor work

CPU + NAND transplant

Migration of CPU and NAND onto a compatible donor logic board. The only path on devices where data is cryptographically tied to the original silicon.

FTL · Firmware

FTL reconstruction · firmware

Translation table rebuild and proprietary firmware analysis on SSD/NVMe controllers. Reassembly of fragmented data after controller failure.

Forensic

Forensic logical recovery

Sector-by-sector imaging, file system reconstruction (APFS, NTFS, ext4, Btrfs, ZFS) and data carving on devices with intact silicon but corrupted structure.

Why a lab

Software-level vs board-level

Most data recovery shops only run software. When the device won't power on, that approach is no longer valid.

Software service

  • Accidentally deleted files
  • Format / lost partition
  • File system corruption
  • Device that won't turn on
  • Liquid or impact damage
  • Soldered SSD / Apple Silicon
  • Failed controller / NAND
  • Encrypted hardware

Process

Five stages. Always in this order.

Every case is auditable. From reception to delivery, the device is tracked at each stage.

01

Reception & non-invasive diagnostic

Visual inspection under microscope, electrical test on power lines and identification of the failure pattern. No write attempts on the device.

02

Quote & client approval

Communication of the required intervention, expected complexity and price range. No work begins without explicit approval.

03

Board-level intervention

Microsoldering, BGA chip-off, ISP read or component transplant according to the diagnosis. Controlled environment.

04

Sector imaging & reconstruction

Read of the storage at the lowest possible level. FTL reconstruction, decryption when keys are accessible, file system rebuild.

05

Verification & secure delivery

File integrity check, listing for the client, delivery on a new drive or via secure transfer. Originals returned in their state.

Lab FAQ

Frequent technical questions.

01What is a board-level data recovery lab?+
A lab equipped to intervene physically on the device's electronics: repairing damaged tracks, replacing components, extracting NAND chips and reading storage at the lowest level. It goes beyond what any software-only service can do.
02What is a chip-off recovery?+
Chip-off is the process of physically removing the NAND memory chip from the board (usually BGA-soldered) and reading it on a dedicated hardware programmer. It's reserved for cases where the original board can't be revived but the data inside the chip is still intact.
03What is ISP / JTAG access?+
ISP (In-System Programming) and JTAG are protocols that allow reading the internal flash through test pads on the board, without removing the chip. Useful when the controller fails but the silicon is healthy.
04What is FTL reconstruction?+
The FTL (Flash Translation Layer) is the table that maps logical addresses to physical NAND blocks on an SSD/NVMe. When the controller fails, this map must be reconstructed manually to make the read data coherent.
05When do I need a lab and not a software service?+
When the device doesn't power on, has suffered impact or liquid damage, has soldered storage (MacBook, iPhone, modern Android), or shows hardware-level errors (controller failure, drive not detected by BIOS). Software services don't reach those cases.
06Do you offer a free diagnostic?+
The diagnostic is free if the recovery quote is accepted. If you decline the quote, a flat €45 fee covers diagnostic time and return shipping. No surprise charges.
07What does "no recovery, no fee" mean?+
If after the agreed-upon recovery work we cannot recover your data, you don't pay the recovery fee. You only cover the €45 diagnostic if you had previously declined a viable quote.
08How long does a board-level case take?+
Standard turnaround is 5–14 business days depending on the failure complexity. Cases requiring donor parts may take longer. Express service available with surcharge, always quoted upfront.
09Do you do nationwide pickup?+
Yes. We pick up devices across all of Spain via courier with insurance. Reception is acknowledged in writing and the device is processed within 24 hours of arrival at the lab.
10Is the data confidential?+
Yes. Every case is handled under confidentiality. We sign NDAs on request, especially for B2B clients (repair shops, MSPs, IT providers, legal cases).

A real case deserves a real diagnostic.

Send your details and we coordinate pickup. Diagnostic is free with quote acceptance, no automatic charges.
